Build and Test Systematic Trading Strategies
Trivium focuses on rules-based breakout strategies. These systems aim to capture momentum when prices move beyond defined levels.
The course teaches a structured process for researching and evaluating strategies. You’ll learn to look beyond attractive backtests and examine whether a strategy remains robust under different testing conditions.
Robustness Testing
A key focus is strategy selection. Generating thousands of strategies is only useful if you can identify which ones deserve further testing.
The course covers methods such as out-of-sample testing, Monte Carlo analysis, stress testing, and multi-market evaluation. These techniques help assess how strategies perform beyond the data used to develop them.
Portfolio Creation & Risk Management
A collection of individual strategies is not automatically a well-balanced portfolio. Their relationships and combined risk also matter.
Trivium covers portfolio construction, correlation analysis, diversification, and risk allocation. The goal is to help you understand how different strategies interact before deploying them together.
Custom Code & Course Resources
The program includes practical files designed to support the workflow taught in the course.
Included resources are:
-
Custom SQX code snippets
-
Custom signal blocks
-
Importable workflow files
-
A historical drawdown macro
-
Deployment checklists
-
Step-by-step written instructions and screenshots
The course is delivered through a google drive. It is text-based, with instructions, examples, and links rather than video lessons.
Markets & Trading Approach
Trivium’s methodology focuses on breakout systems and can be applied across several markets, including:
-
Forex
-
Stock indices
-
Gold
-
Cryptocurrency
The workflow can also be tested on other markets. Specific entry rules vary by strategy, but the research and evaluation process remains consistent.
About the Founder
Trivium Systems Trading was created by Brendan Anderson, a systematic trader who began trading in 2020.
After initially exploring discretionary trading, Brendan turned to StrategyQuant X to develop and test rules-based strategies. His experience with strategies that performed well in backtests but struggled on unseen data led him to focus on robustness testing and strategy selection.
The course reflects that approach: build a repeatable research process, evaluate strategies carefully, manage portfolio risk, and establish a process for live deployment.
Who Is Trivium Systems Trading For?
This course is designed for traders who:
-
Already own StrategyQuant X
-
Understand the SQX interface
-
Can generate strategies but struggle to select which ones to deploy
-
Want to build their own automated trading systems
-
Want a structured approach to robustness testing
-
Need guidance on portfolio construction and risk management
-
Are willing to work through a systematic research process
Important: A StrategyQuant X license is required and is not included with the course.
From Strategy Generation to Live Deployment
Trivium Systems Trading connects the different stages of systematic trading into one workflow. You’ll start with data and setup, move into strategy generation and robustness testing, then study portfolio construction, deployment, and ongoing management.
For SQX users who want to move beyond generating strategies and develop a more disciplined approach to selecting and managing them, this course provides a structured, practical reference.
